Lucerne, 5 June 2025 – After 16 years under the direction of Erich Brechbühl, the Weltformat Graphic Design Festival Lucerne is opening a new chapter: Svenja Kolly, Michèle Raez and Mia Gujer are taking over the artistic and organisational management of the festival with immediate effect. They will be supported by Cinzia Parravicini, who is now in charge of the administrative office. This year's festival will take place from 4 to 11 October. Information on the programme will follow in the course of the summer.
New direction: Weltformat under construction in 2025
With the upcoming generational change, the festival is consciously focussing on renewal and diversity. The new team stands for an open, collaborative and future-orientated approach. Their positioning as independent designers also anchors the festival firmly in the current practice of the young design scene. They bring fresh perspectives, a broad network and a great passion for the Swiss and international graphic design scene.
Erich Brechbühl will remain with the festival as president of the supporting organisation and will support the transition with his many years of experience and strong ties to the graphic design scene.
The 2025 festival will take place from October 4 to 11 - with the Kornschütte Lucerne as the festival centre. Five exhibitions and a new supporting programme are being planned, which will be published in August.
In keeping with the change, this year's festival theme is ‘Under Construction’. It stands for new beginnings, change and the desire for the unfinished. The new team is using this theme to open up spaces for experiments, processes and changes of perspective - in the festival itself, in design and in social discourse.
We look forward to a Weltformat in flux!
