First held in Baden in 1995, Fantoche is now one of the world’s most important festivals for animated film. Since its inception, Bivgrafik from Zurich has shaped its visual identity, designing a new poster for each festival edition featuring a lively two-eyed creature.

Using a creative process that blends analog and digital media, along with the freedom of color, form, and material choices, Bivgrafik creates a fertile ground for fascinating posters. Every year, the team’s different Fantoches spring to life. From the vibrant bouquet of posters, the festival’s committee selects one design to become the face of the upcoming edition. Posters that are not chosen are carefully stored in the archive.
With 22 editions of the festival to date, 87 Fantoches have been created, and for Weltformat, they are now being brought from the archive into the spotlight.
