Introduction

October 5th, 12 AM with Isabelle Mauchle (Jury)

The exhibition 100 Best Posters presents the most exciting posters from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The winners have been selected from a competition and represent the creative exploration of the poster as a medium and the versatile work of the graphic design scene from German-speaking countries.

The competition 100 Best Posters of the Year was launched in the 1960s. The aim was – and still is – to present and promote posters from German-speaking countries. Entries may be submitted from all areas; commissioned works, student projects, product advertisements, cultural posters or political and socially critical designs. The winning posters are presented – without ranking – in a travelling exhibition and a yearbook.

The one hundred best entries are selected by a jury of renowned graphic designers and poster theorists. This year's jury consisted of Sandra Doeller (Frankfurt am Main), Isabelle Mauchle (Luzern), Flávia Nalon (São Paulo/Hamburg), Tobias Schererbauer (Wien) and Toan Vu-Huu (Paris).

This year, a total of 1518 posters were submitted by 667 designers. The jury honoured 45 posters from Germany, 51 from Switzerland and 4 from Austria. The winning posters will be shown in a travelling exhibition and presented in a yearbook, which is available in our festival shop.

The competition and the touring exhibition have established themselves as a well-known institution and are appreciated by designers and studios as well as by students and advertising agencies.

The 100 winning posters can be found here.
